PMMA - General Information
PMMA (Polymethylmethacrylate), respectively acrylic glass, is created through the polymerization of monomeric methyl acrylate. PMMA distinguishes itself through its high transparency, durability and excellent weathering resistance, as well as a large range of application options (i.e. medical, automotive, optics, construction, light engineering, etc.). PMMA has shown to be chemically resistant against acids and bases of light to medium concentration; acetone and benzole, however, will cause maceration of the material and should therefore not be used. In comparison to other plastic materials, PMMA is rather scratch resistant. PMMA is easy to glue or weld. The yellow and orange PMMA types protect from ultraviolet light. ESLON-DC PMMA plates are excellently suited for heat forming (overlay forming and edge bending). There is also an ESLON-DC PMMA Hard Coat version available, which is resistant to organic solvents, for example acetone. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
