Polycarbonate - General Information
Polycarbonate (short: PC) is classified as a member of the polyester family. Polycarbonate possesses a great degree of impact strength, excellent transparency and very good dimensional stability. Amongst others, Polycarbonate is used as a base material for CDs and DVDs , automotive glazing, window glass for greenhouses and conservatories, and for shatter-proof machine coverings. Polycarbonate is chemically resistant against weak acids, ethanol and oils. The material has little to no chemical resistance against bases, methanol, or aromatic hydrocarbon. ESLON-DC Polycarbonate can be glued or welded. The orange type polycarbonate protects from ultraviolet light. ESLON-DC Polycarbonate plates are suitable for heat forming (overlay forming and edge bending). Also available is the ESLON-DC Polycarbonate Hard Coat version, which is splash resistant to contact with organic solvents, such as acetone, ester and halogen. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
